09:43 EST - In the last of our PMA interview series, IR publisher Dave Etchells and Senior Editor Shawn Barnett had a chance to talk in depth with Yoshiyuki Inoue, a senior camera planner from Panasonic Corporation. (Mr. Inoue's full title is Councilor, Planning Group/Development Planning Team, DSC Business Unit, Network Business Group, Panasonic AVC Networks Company, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.) Inoue-san has long experience in the camera business, having been a senior planner with Minolta (subsequently Konica-Minolta for a while) before working for Panasonic. 22:04 EST - Hoya Corp. has today announced a rather handsome-looking special limited-edition version of its Pentax K-7 prosumer single-lens reflex digital camera.

The Pentax K-7 Limited Silver takes the existing K-7 body, and replaces several of the black body panels with silver-finished panels. These include the top and bottom panels, plus the upper surface of the popup flash strobe, and the panel comprising the bottom of the viewfinder prism and lens mount surround. 19:55 EST - Casio has introduced two new digital cameras for this year's PMA show, both entry-level units with affordable pricing.

The Casio S7 and Casio Z35 are closely related, sharing the same lens, and similar image sensors as well as much of their firmware functionality. Although their 1/2.3-inch sensors do differ, both cameras have effective resolutions of twelve megapixels. The S7 and Z35 share a 3x optical zoom lens that has a rather tight 35.5mm wide angle, and a maximum aperture of F3.1 to F5.6 across the zoom range.... (More)

03:40 EST - Rounding out its pre-PMA announcements, Sigma has offered significantly more information on its upcoming SD15 digital SLR.

First announced in September 2008 at the Photokina tradeshow, the Sigma SD15 is a direct successor to the now rather long-in-the-tooth SD14 model, which first shipped in March 2007. The Sigma SD15's near-APS-C sized Foveon image sensor is unchanged from that in the SD14, and still yields a final image size of 4.7 megapixels. 03:24 EST - Sigma has today unveiled its new DP2s digital camera, a relatively minor update to the existing DP2 model which launched in September 2008.

Like its predecessor, the Sigma DP2s is based aorund a near-APS-C sized Foveon image sensor, which yields a final image size of 4.7 megapixels. The DP2s' 41mm-equivalent lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8.
