At the heart of the Fujifilm FinePix JV200 digital camera sits a 14 megapixel CCD image sensor, which allows capture of not only high-resolution still images, but also of high-definition 720p video. The Fuji JV200 places its sensor behind a FUJINON-branded 3x optical zoom lens, with actual focal lengths ranging from 6.5 to 19.5mm. 35mm-equivalent focal lengths weren't available at press time. Maximum aperture ranges from f/3.1 at wide angle to f/5.6 at telephoto.

The Fuji FinePix JV200 lacks any form of optical or electronic viewfinder, instead relying on a 2.7-inch LCD display with 230,000 dots of resolution, roughly equivalent to a 320 x 240 pixel array, with each pixel comprising separate red, green, and blue colored dots. Also absent from the Fuji JV200's design is any provision for mechanical image stabilization, with the JV200 instead relying solely on what Fuji terms "Digital Image Stabilization". In essence, the camera raises ISO sensitivity (and with this, both the shutter speeds and noise levels), thus attempting to freeze blur from camera shake.

The Fujifilm JV200 uses contrast detection autofocusing, and includes face detection capability able to locate and track up to ten faces in a scene. It also includes both smile and blink detection capability, and automatic red-eye removal. Other features of the Fuji JV200 include an automatic scene recognition function, i-Flash intelligent flash metering, and a motion panorama mode that stitches up to three separate shots into a single image. Power comes courtesy of a proprietary lithium ion battery pack, with a charger included in the product bundle. Information on battery life, or any further details on this model were not available at press time.

The Fuji FinePix JV200 ships in the US market from February 2011, priced at around US$110. The only available body color in this market is black.
