Samsung WB50F Review -- First Impressions

As yet we have relatively little information about the Samsung WB50F, but it looks to offer a couple of unusual features. One of these is what would appear to be an articulated flash, dubbed the Soft Flash. Could this be a built-in bounce strobe? It certainly looks a little that way.
Based around a 1/2.3-inch type, 16.2 megapixel CCD image sensor, the Samsung WB50F offers a sensitivity range of ISO 80 to 3200 equivalents.
The sensor sits behind a 12x optical zoom lens with a 24mm-equivalent wide angle, and a telephoto equivalent in the region of 288mm. Maximum aperture starts from f/3.1, and falls to a dim f/6.3 by telephoto. On the plus side, optical image stabilization is included, helping to prevent blur from camera shake. Images and movies are framed and reviewed on a 3.0-inch, 460K-dot LCD monitor.
Shooting modes include Smart, Photo / Video Filter, and Live Panorama. The Smart mode offers a variety of scene types, including Landscape, Action Freeze, Silhouette, Sunset, Fireworks, Light Trace, Beauty Face, Night, and Macro. Movie resolutions include HD (1,280 x 720 pixels; 720p), VGA (640 x 480), and QVGA (320 x 240). All are captured at 30 frames per second.
Images and movies are stored on MicroSD cards, including the higher-capacity MicroSDHC and MicroSDXC types. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi wireless networking with support for remote live view, and NFC for easy setup with Android devices. Power comes from a BP70A battery.
Body colors for the Samsung WB50F include white, black, red and one other as-yet unspecified color. Pricing and availability hadn't been disclosed at press time.
