Launch prices

The Panasonic GH4 body has been available since April 2014. Initially sold for a list price of US$1,700, the GH4 now lists for US$1,500 as of February 2017. The DMW-YAGH interface unit originally listed at US$2,000, and while it's no longer available direct from Panasonic, last sold for US$1,000. Originally, the body plus interface unit could be bought together for about US$3,300, but this bundle is also no longer offered by Panasonic. In September 2015, the company also released a paid firmware upgrade priced at around US$100, enabling new V-Log and V-Log L picture styles for the GH4. Simultaneously, a variant of the GH4 was released in some European markets, known as the Panasonic GH4R. This version comes with the firmware update preinstalled, and also removes the artificial limit on movie clip length which is imposed in European GH4 bodies for tax reasons. The Panasonic GH4R is identical in hardware terms, right down to the screen-printed model number. It carries a list price of around GBP1200 in the UK market, a premium of GBP150 over standard pricing of the GH4.
