With Father's Day almost here, the folks over at Imaging Resource affiliate partner Adorama are running a pretty impressive deal that could completely overhaul Dad's aging photo setup. (It could also make a great gift for grads who've not yet explored the world of photography beyond their camera phone or compact.)
For just about US$600, you can pick up Canon gear including an entry-level digital SLR, two zoom lenses that together cover most of the range from 18 to 300mm, a bright f/1.8 prime lens, and an impressive eight-color photo printer. In addition, you'll get a Kingston SDHC card, a tripod with pan/tilt head, a camera bag, and a selection of filters and plugins from Red Giant Software.

Yes, with the exception of the printer we're mostly talking entry-level consumer gear here, but still... consider that list pricing for the Canon gear alone is US$1,376 even before you throw in the extras, and there is no question you're getting a lot for your money. In a word, "Wow!"
In full, the list of gear included in the man-that's-a-mouthful Canon EOS Rebel T3 Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens Bundle Z is as follows, with Canon's estimated retail pricing where appropriate:
-
12.1 megapixel Canon EOS Rebel T3 digital SLR with Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II image-stabilized standard zoom kit lens (~US$550 ERP, before $50 instant rebate)
-
Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III telephoto zoom lens with DC autofocus motor (US$200 ERP)
-
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens, Canon's lightest EF lens model (US$126 ERP)
-
Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II professional photo inkjet printer (US$500 ERP, before US$100 instant rebate)
-
Kingston 8GB Class 4 SDHC memory card
-
Davis & Sanford Explorer tripod (57 inches extended, 24" when closed)
-
Adorama Slinger camera bag (10" x 10" x 4" main compartment)
-
Red Giant Magic Bullet PhotoLooks v1.5 (standalone Windows / Mac app also works as Photoshop, Lightroom or Aperture plugin; offers various photo filters and effects)
-
Red Giant Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop v3.2 (Windows / Mac plugin for Adobe Photoshop / Photoshop Elements; creates lens flare effects)
-
Red Giant Text Anarchy v2.4 (Windows / Mac plugin for Adobe After Effects / Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro / Motion; creates animated text effects)

The deal does rely on a Canon mail-in rebate, which will see you receive an American Express reward card for US$400 within 60 days of the rebate claim being received. The rebate is valid on purchases of the PIXMA Pro9000 printer and certain Canon DSLRs including the T3, made between May 6th and June 30th, 2012. Rebate claims must be postmarked no later than July 30, 2012, and received no later than August 13, 2012. Prior to receiving the mail-in rebate, you'll pay a total of US$1,000; still well below the list pricing for the Canon gear by itself.
For more details, take a look at the bundle's product listing on the Adorama website. Not convinced?
