The Canon PowerShot G12 is a replacement for last year's PowerShot G11. Like that camera, the PowerShot G12 offers the combination of a ten megapixel CCD sensor and a DIGIC 4 image processor. The G12 also retains its predecessor's 5x optical zoom lens, with 35mm-equivalent focal lengths from 28 to 140mm -- a useful wide angle to a moderate telephoto.
The Canon G12 is expected to carry list pricing of US$500, the same point at which its predecessor shipped last October. Availability in the US market had not been announced at press time.
More details as they're available can be found in our Canon G12 preview.

The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS, meanwhile, replaces last year's SX20 IS model. The SX30 IS' resolution has been tweaked just ever so slightly, from twelve to fourteen megapixels. It's the SX30's zoom lens that's in for the big update this time around, however. Canon has replaced the previous 20x optical with a new 35x optical zoom in the PowerShot SX30 IS, offering focal lengths all the way out to 840mm equivalent. The Canon SX30 IS also has a slightly larger 2.7-inch tilt / swivel LCD panel, versus the 2.5-inch type in its predecessor. One final change of note is that the Canon SX30 now uses a custom lithium-ion battery pack, rather than the four AA cells of the SX20.
The Canon PowerShot SX30IS is priced $30 above the previous model, at US$430 list. Availability in the US market had not been announced at press time.
More details as they arrive can be found in our Canon SX30 IS preview.
