Street-photography-book-logoWe've shared a couple of video tutorials recently on how to take photos of complete strangers and how to capture the perfect headshot, now here's a free e-book in a somewhat similar vein. Called "31 Days to Overcome Your Fear of Shooting Street Photography," the free book is by noted street photographer Eric Kim and is available on his blog (scroll down a bit) as either a Microsoft Word document or a PDF.

In his intro to the book, Kim explains the thinking behind it:

"So why did I decide to write this book? Well one quote that I love is from famous hockey player Wayne Gretsky who said, 'You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.' In street photography, one of the biggest problems that most aspiring street photographers [have] is getting over their initial fear of taking photos of strangers in public (without permission)."

Kim later notes that while most people think street photography might result in you getting arrested or even punched in the nose, he's only had three negative incidents -- all relatively minor -- while shooting over 300,000 street photographs.

Our only gripe about the book is that it contains no photos, just text. If you want to see Kim's work though, click here for his portfolio of street photographs.
