Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) has published the numbers for April camera shipments.

According to the publication, DSLR shipments have increased roughly 40%, a surprising stat when you take into consideration DSLR sales declined steadily over the past few years. As positive as these numbers appear, similar spikes have happened in previous years, presumably due to the Spring availability of cameras announced during January and February tradeshows such as CES, CP Plus and WPPI.

Also revealed in the numbers is the continuing trend of stagnant mirrorless camera shipments. Since early 2013, mirrorless shipments have been been all but flat, with a few dips, both up and down, in Fall of 2013 and Winter of 2014, respectively.
