Sony FE 28mm f/2 Lens Review: A fast, affordable, high quality prime for your Sony A7 series camera

Back in March, Sony expanded their FE lens lineup with four new models, including the very compact, budget-friendly FE 28mm f/2.0 prime lens. Sitting slighly wider than their earlier FE 35mm f/2.8 Zeiss-branded prime, this 28mm lens remains similarly small and lightweight, while ringing up at a hefty price discount compared to the 35/2.8. The small size makes it a great option for a carry-everywhere, walkaround lens, plus the 28mm focal length is a great option for landscape and travel photography. With the bright f/2.0 aperture, the 28mm prime is also a nice choice for low-light shooting.
In our lab testing, the image quality from the Sony FE 28mm f/2.0 looks very good, though stopping down some really sharpens things up. Other optical characterisitcs such as distortion and vignetting can be a bit high, but in-camera corrections work well to clear these up. For all the details from our in-depth look at this lens, including image quality analysis as well as build quality characteristics and autofocus performance, head over to SLRgear for our Sony FE 28mm f/2.0 review!
Similar to the previous model, the Sony FE 28mm f/2.0 comes in at a very affordable price point around $448, including a lens hood. Check out Amazon, B&H or Adorama for more info on ordering. Buying this lens, or any other item, at one of these trusted affiliates helps support this site and keeps the reviews coming!
