Earlier this year, Ricoh launched its brand-new Pentax KP DSLR with features including interchangeable grips and a spectacular ISO 819,200-equivalent maximum sensitivity. The KP is Ricoh / Pentax's answer to the rise of the mirrorless camera, the result of a ground-up rethink of how a DSLR should be packaged to help keep its size and weight to a minimum.

But how does the Pentax KP handle in the real world? As a long-time Pentaxian myself, that's what I wanted to answer in my first field test of the KP. Recently, I headed out with camera in hand -- not to mention a generous selection of Pentax glass -- in search of new subjects in the picturesque rural towns of Etowah and Tellico Plains, Tennessee. To get my thoughts on how it performed, you'll want to read my just-published first field test of the Pentax KP for the full story!
