PRESS RELEASE: Leading-Edge Digital Convergence Technology From SimpleTech Demonstrated At Germany's Photokina 2002
Next-Generation Flash Media, Readers and Adapters Deliver the Total Solution
COLOGNE, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2002-- SimpleTech, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC - News), a leading provider of flash-based storage and custom and standard memory solutions, is demonstrating the latest innovations in digital convergence technology targeted to the fast-growing market of high-end digital cameras and imaging accessories.
The Bonzai USB Mini-Drive, measuring just 2.5" x 1.3" x .25" (LWD), is the latest trend in data storage, transport and transfer, fitting easily into a pocket, purse or briefcase, and storing up to 512MB of data. Bonzai -- the smallest removable flash storage solution on the market today -- stores more information than floppy disks, eliminates the need for an external drive, and is more convenient than burning CDs. Bonzai plugs directly into a PC or Macintosh 1.1 USB port for fast file transfer at 1.5MB/sec. Also, the SD or MultiMediaCard(TM) (MMC) inside Bonzai be removed and inserted directly into a compatible digital camera, video recorder, or other digital device for easy file sharing. Storage capacity is expandable by simply upgrading Bonzai's flash card.
SimpleTech's 512MB SD Memory Card is next-generation flash storage, combining fast data transfer rates of 10MB/sec. and high capacity in a slim, compact design, making it the ideal solution for SD-compatible digital cameras, video recorders, digital projectors and photo printers.
The FlashLink(TM) All-in-One USB Reader and the FlashLink 4-in-One PC Card Adapter from SimpleTech offer users the ultimate in flexibility and convenience for data download and file sharing between multiple types of flash cards, and PC and Macintosh computers. The All-in-One Reader supports the most popular flash media formats, including SmartMedia, SD, MMC, Memory Stick, Type I/Type II CompactFlash(TM) and IBM MicroDrive. The All-in-One's USB interface provides high-speed data access between flash cards, or between the card and the computer hard drive.
The 4-in-One PC Card Adapter supports SmartMedia, SD, MMC and Memory Stick flash formats via a single card slot. Incorporating commands and controllers for the four different types of flash media into a single, compact PCMCIA Type II card format, the 4-in-One fits into the slot on a Notebook PC or Macintosh PowerBook, and is recognized as a removable drive when the flash media is inserted.
