Photokina 2002, Cologne, Germany (September 20, 2002) - Creo Inc. (NASDAQ: CREO; TSX: CRE) launches the LeafTM Valeo family of portable digital camera backs at Photokina next week. Embedded in the products is a new concept, patent-pending, for portable digital photography. Unique features such as high capacity image storage on a removable digital magazine, very fast download speed, and a detachable 6X7 cm digital proof, provide the Leaf Valeo backs with true Portable Power.

Power, Strength and Efficiency
The Leaf Valeo digital camera back is named for power, strength and efficiency in Latin. It provides these qualities to the professional photographer it has been designed for-both in the studio and on-location. The Leaf Valeo 6 back contains six megapixels and is ideal for portrait and wedding photography, while the Leaf Valeo 11 contains 11 megapixels and is designed for commercial and advertising photography. Leaf's complete portable solution is comprised of a Leaf Valeo digital back, the Leaf Digital Magazine and the Leaf DP-67 detachable image display.

Store Hundreds of Images
Five gigabytes of storage space on a single magazine hold more than 300 images from the Leaf Valeo 6 and more than 200 images from the Leaf Valeo 11 in 16-bit uncompressed Leaf HDR (High Dynamic Range) format. "In designing our portable concept, we have given special attention to the unique needs of the professional photographer," explains Stanley Barkan, Leaf chief scientist and one of the patent owners. "For example, we chose FireWire communication in the Digital Magazine to make the writing speed approximately three times faster than that of a compact flash or a micro drive."

Leaf DP-67 Detachable Image Display
The large 6x7 cm, high-quality Leaf DP-67 display detaches from the Leaf Valeo back and is integrated with the iPAQTM Pocket PC. This display configuration is distinct from the prevailing method that uses small displays on the camera back.

The Leaf DP-67 display serves as the photographer's digital proof. The screen quality makes instant image and composition evaluation practical. Collaboration during a photographic session is facilitated as the photographer can use the Leaf DP-67 off camera. The Leaf DP-67 also operates as the photographer's light meter, viewing light box and contact sheet. There are special advantages for outdoor photography as the high-quality color display can be viewed in bright sunlight.

16 Bit Uncompressed Quality
Whether in the studio or on-location, all raw image data is captured in Leaf HDR (High Dynamic Range), a 16-bit, uncompressed file format. Unlike other portable cameras that store images in compressed JPEG format, the Leaf HDR format acts like a digital transparency. Images can be re-purposed for future use without any loss of the original captured data.

The new portable Leaf Valeo solutions will be demonstrated at Photokina at the Creo stand. Brian Goodman, a U.S. digital photographer who is known for his creative imagery in advertising, will be working with Leaf products in studio 1 at the Creo stand (Hall 10.2, stand M048/N049) from September 25-30.
