PRESS RELEASE: Creo Announces New Solutions for Professional Photography at Photokina 2002
Photokina 2002, Cologne, Germany (September 20, 2002) - Creo Inc. (NASDAQ: CREO; TSX: CRE) is introducing significant new digital photography solutions at Photokina 2002, the industry's largest trade show. "These exciting new products are an excellent example of our commitment to providing complete solutions for our customers," said Judi Hess, president, Graphic Arts, Creo.
Portable Power The LeafTM Portable Power concept is a new approach to portable photography. Implemented in the new LeafTM Valeo family of digital camera backs, it provides a complete professional solution for shooting on location and in the studio. The Leaf Valeo family features two models: the Leaf Valeo 6 back designed for portrait and social photography, and the Leaf Valeo 11 back, targeted at commercial and advertising photography. Both models provide 16-bit uncompressed quality, a removable Digital Magazine capable of capturing hundreds of images, and the large Leaf DP-67 detachable image display.
Full Photographic Workflow Solution The next generation of the LeafTM Capture application is also being introduced at the show. The Leaf Capture V8 application focuses on making professional digital photography easier and simplifies the photography capture workflow. When augmented by the professional image editing and soft proofing tools of the Leaf oXYgen application, the Leaf applications produce a full solution from capture to print. Leaf oXYgen is a production tool for creating ready-to-print RGB and CMYK files. It is fully ICC-compatible and offers batch processing capabilities and sophisticated soft proofing tools.
Live demonstrations of all the new Leaf solutions will take place on the Creo stand. The main studio will feature Brian Goodman, a leading U.S. photographer, who will be shooting with the Leaf Valeo portable digital camera back. A special hands-on class will allow photographers to test the new Leaf products in another studio.
Professional Color Scanners The new Creo iQsmartTM professional color scanners will also be demonstrated at Photokina, providing a unique value proposition for professional photographers and photo service providers. The iQsmart scanners enable the highest possible scanning quality and excellent productivity at an affordable price. Any size original can be scanned at a resolution of up to 10,000dpi (optical 5,500 dpi) from edge-to-edge. Ease-of-use and a flexible workflow ensures photo studio environments produce top quality scans and enable the creation of "digital transparency" archives.
See Leaf digital photography and the iQsmart scanners in action at Photokina 2002 from September 25-30 in Hall 10.2, stand M048/N049.
