Initially available to dealers only, and working only on the Windows operating system, ImageRescue is now available to purchase for both Windows and Mac (OS X only) at a cost of $39.99. Lexar Media Begins Worldwide Retail Shipments Of Image Rescue™ Software

Innovative Digital Picture Recovery Solution Now Available for Windows and Mac OS X

PHOTOKINA, Cologne, Germany, September 25, 2002 - Lexar Media, Inc. (Nasdaq: LEXR), a leading developer of flash mass storage systems and an innovator of high-performance digital media and accessories, today announces the introduction of Image Rescue™ software for Lexar Media CompactFlash™ to retail stores worldwide. Image Rescue will begin shipping in October with a manufacturer's suggested list price of $39.99. Previously, Image Rescue was only available as a service through authorized professional photo dealers. Image Rescue for Mac OS X will be demonstrated at the Lexar Media Photokina booth 1.2 F48.

"So long as a card is not physically damaged, Image Rescue can identify and retrieve almost any image file. Image Rescue has been very successful in restoring lost pictures -- recovering upwards of 95 percent of the images in memory on our customers' CompactFlash cards," said David Klenske, director of product marketing, Lexar Media. "Now customers can have the software with them in the field to recover images wherever they are, on either Windows or Macintosh computers."

Lexar Media's proprietary image file recovery program recovers 'perceived to be lost' image files from Lexar Media-brand USB-enabled CompactFlash memory cards. The most common causes of image loss include removing the card from a camera or reader before the image has been fully stored, accidentally deleting a picture, reformatting a card or low battery power in a digital camera. Lexar Media Image Rescue goes to the root-level of the data structure to identify and retrieve lost images, even if the computer does not see the card. In most instances Image Rescue can identify and retrieve JPEG, TIFF and RAW file formats.

Professional Photographers Endorse Image Rescue
"As president of a major global photo syndication service, I need to be certain all images are available immediately to customers worldwide," said Jennifer Graylock, president and CEO of Graylock.com. "While photographing at the Oscar's, one of our cards became corrupted, causing a panic. We thought all images on the card were lost. Lexar Media's Image Rescue gave us 100 percent recovery."

Internationally known lecturer, photographer and digital imaging expert Helene DeLillo of Dancing Icon notes, "At a recent photo shoot one of my assistants inadvertently pulled a CompactFlash from my card reader before the reader had completely transferred photographs. In that split-second, the card's file system became corrupted, leaving me with an incomplete view of images. Lexar Media's Image Recovery restored all files to their original condition. My work in the beauty and entertainment industry depends on reliable technology so I highly recommend Image Rescue for digital photography professionals."
