Eastman Kodak Co. has announced a new digital camera in its EasyShare C-series, the Kodak C875.
Featuring both a 37 - 185mm equivalent 5x optical zoom lens and an eight megapixel CCD image sensor, the Easyshare C875 has a compact silver body that's mostly smooth, with the exception of slight protrusions for the lens and handgrip - all in all, it looks to be a pocket friendly design. ISO sensitivity ranges from a minimum ISO of 64 through to a maximum of 800, although in auto ISO mode the camera stays at ISO 200 or below. Shutter speeds range from 1/1600 to 8 seconds, with a choice of multi-pattern, center weighted, or center spot metering and 2.0EV of exposure compensation in 1/3EV increments. There's also the ability to control exposures fully manually, or control either shutter or aperture while the camera controls the other variable.
Other features of the Kodak Easyshare C875 include a 2.5" LCD display, five white balance modes, a built-in flash strobe good to 4.1 meters at wide angle (or 2.6 meters at telephoto), 20 scene modes for ease of use, and the ability to record movies in QuickTime MPEG4 format. Images and movies are both stored on Secure Digital cards, or 28MB of built-in memory. Power comes courtesy of two AA batteries, with alkaline disposables in the product bundle.
The Kodak EasyShare C875 goes on sale from August, with pricing not yet disclosed.
