Sony unveils 3 megapixel 3x zoom digicam with a whole boatload of features...
The evening has gone on a lot longer than expected, but as promised earlier we have more information on one of Sony's newly announced digital cameras, the DSC-S75. All of the other new Sony cameras are already in our camera database as per our previous news item, and we expect to have summaries for these new cameras along with Sony's official press releases posted tomorrow, amongst other news...
Scheduled for an April 2001 release, the new DSC-S75 features a 3.34 megapixel CCD image sensor, Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens, both automatic and manual capabilities (shutter, aperture, focus, white-balance, sharpening, flash strength). Other highlights of the design include 14-bit A/D conversion, ISO ratings from 100 to 400, center-weighted or spot metering, a 5-mode flash and connectivity for an external HVL-F1000 flash unit.
The design includes both a 1.8" LCD display and a real-image type optical viewfinder, and uses Sony's InfoLithium battery and MemoryStick flash card technologies. Files are recorded in JPEG / TIFF (still images), or Animated Gif / MPEG (videos), and the camera can record up to the MemoryStick's capacity (90 minutes on a 128MB card) of 8 frames per second video at 160 x 112 pixels, or up to 15 seconds of 320 x 240 16 fps video. Full specifications are as follows:
