Vivitar shows digital camera with MP3 playback, video and audio recording at PMA...
Vivitar's first PMA announcement, the ViviCam 2795, features still image, video and audio recording capabilities, as well as MP3 playback. The unit, actually manufactured by Taiwanese company Premier Image Technology Corp. (better known as Pretec), features a fixed focus, fixed-focal length lens, CMOS image sensor and CompactFlash storage (alongside 2MB of built-in memory). VIVITAR VIVICAM 2795 COMBINES PIX AND TUNES IN 4-in-1 DIGITAL CAMERA AND MP3 PLAYER LOS ANGELES (February 11, 2001) - Vivitar today introduced the ViviCam 2795, the first 4-in-1 digital camera with an MP3 player. The trend-setting ViviCam 2795 is made for commuters, vacationers, teens and anyone longing for a digital camera and high quality MP3 music player in one compact and convenient device.
The ViviCam 2795 can store 29 VGA photos as JPEG images in its internal 2MB flash memory. The camera can expand its memory with Compact Flash cards. The camera has a focus-free 7.2mm lens and automatic exposure as well as a built-in flash.
The ViviCam 2795 can play back music recorded in the popular MP3 format. Ysers can store 10 minutes of MP3 files in the unit's internal memory and up to 90 minutes by adding an optional 16MB CompactFlash card. Headphones are included. Users can also record audio clips in the wav format. The camera also takes video clips at 2 pictures per second.
Additional features include an automatic power off, a tripod socket, a TWAIN driver, a black and white LCD for text display and MP3 software.
The ultra-compact camera is 3.6" x 3.1" x 1.4" and weighs 4.8 ounces. It is powered by 2 AA alkaline batteries and has an optional AC adapter that uses the built-in USB port.
The estimated retail price is $199.95. The ViviCam 2795 may be purchased at mass merchandisers, consumer electronics stores and other Vivitar resellers nationwide.
