Nikon Japan has posted a short teaser on its website promising that it will soon "unveil an enigma".
As usual with these teasers, we'll leave it up to our readers to draw their own conclusions as to what is being announced. We've assembled a quick animated graphic (below) that you can look at, or you can

to view the original Flash file on Nikon's website.
To the accompaniment of background music that wouldn't seem out of place in the latest Hollywood blockbuster, Nikon's teaser says: "Nikon is getting ready to unveil an enigma." A composite image appears on the screen with a "whirlpool" effect, showing a human form, butterfly, engine, and an unidentified object that is roughly square with rounded corners. The image fades away, and glowing yellow lines draw an outline on the screen - again, a roughly square outline with rounded corners. The text "And you won't believe your eyes." appears, followed again by the outline of another square with rounded corners being backlit by a moving light. When you close the screen, a pop-under showing the members of Nikon's Coolpix digital camera family is shown, with the words "Starting February 3, meet a fascinating stranger".
Whether there's anything to be gleaned from the animation beyond the very obvious "shape" theme, we don't know. Stay tuned, though - as soon as we have more to tell you on the "fascinating stranger", you'll hear it here! ;)
