PRESS RELEASE: DigitalCustom Announces Launch of High Res Custom Editing Service

San Francisco, CA, March 2, 2003 - DigitalCustom Group, Inc. announced today at the Photo Marketing Association Conference (PMA) the launch of its flagship high resolution custom photo editing service "DigitalCustom" at www.digitalcustom.com. With the new service, DigitalCustom extends the reach of its award-winning Image-Edit custom consumer digital editing service into "high res" advertising, marketing and media markets, and professional photography markets. Specialized work will include high volume catalogs; detailed compositing for advertising; and custom image editing support for pro photographers. DigitalCustom's central quality control, customer service, order management systems and economies of scale allow professional customers to outsource custom digital editing work at competitive rates.

A basic difference between consumer and "pro" work is that most consumer work is outputted through silver halide processes, based upon a 300-600 dpi JPEG file. Many professionals, in comparison, require that editing be done on TIFF files, and often the work is outputted through high resolution CMYK processes. To handle pro work, DigitalCustom has designed new tools and systems, such as its unique (patent pending) GATEPOST instruction tool, to manage larger files and communicate detailed instructions.

DigitalCustom's President, Jeff Makoff said, "During the ad industry pullback, it made sense for us to focus on the robust consumer market. Having rolled out a complete product line in that market, through our many important relationships, we decided it's time to complete the vision we had when we started DigitalCustom. DigitalCustom will play an important part in the resurgent demand for professional graphics services."

DigitalCustom's co-Chairman and CTO Barnabas Takacs said, "We believe the GATEPOST instruction tool will become the standard means of communicating instructions and comments on graphical works. The incorporation of GATEPOST into the DigitalCustom service will create efficiencies that never existed in graphics."

DigitalCustom Group was formed in 2000 to offer high-quality custom photo editing services at all market levels. In 2001, DigitalCustom launched its popular Image-Edit & Art service for consumer services. In May 2002, DigitalCustom's Image-Edit & Art received Wired magazine's prestigious "First Class" accolade. DigitalCustom reaches the consumer marker principally through wholesale relationships with retailers worldwide, directly and through distributors in Europe, Japan and Latin America.
