Every year at PMA, we see a couple of products that are just so cool, we want one yesterday if not sooner.
This year, one such product that's on News Editor Mike Tomkins' wishlist is the Wacom Cintiq 21UX pen display. Based on a 1600 x 1200 pixel color-accurate 21.3" LCD display, the Cintiq 21UX offers not only a beautiful image, but the ability to retouch your images with a pen that's used directly on the screen itself. The pen has tilt sensitivity, and can detect 1,024 different pressure levels - giving a fine-grained control over image retouching tools. To be sure, the Cintiq 21UX is going to cost a bit more than using a separate LCD display and pen tablet - but there's just something about seeing the image changing right under the tip of the pen that makes it easier to use than the combo of separate display and tablet.
Wacom's booth also showed the company's line of pen tablets in sizes ranging from 4" x 5" up to 9" x 12".
