For its second announcement of the day, Fujifilm has revealed the new FinePix F650, a camera whose rear panel is dominated by a larger than average 3.0-inch LCD display.

The camera's sensor and lens combination sees a six megapixel, 1/2.5" CCD imager coupled with a Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens that offers a 36 - 180mm equivalent range. The F650 stores images on xD-Picture cards or built-in memory (the exact size of which we're currently awaiting confirmation on). Power comes from a proprietary NP-40N Lithium Ion rechargeable battery, and images are transferred to a computer via a USB 1.1 connection. The F650 features a 256-segment metering system, ten scene modes, shutter- and aperture-priority modes to cater for the creative types, ISO sensitivities from 64 to 400, and shutter speeds from 1/2000 to 2 seconds.

The Fujifilm FinePix F650 will ship in June, priced at $349.

Original Source Press Release:

SLIM STYLINGS, LONG LENS, AND A BIG BRILLIANT LCD MAKE THE FINEPIX F650 DIGITAL CAMERA A STANDOUT MODEL

Valhalla, NY, February 14, 2006 – Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc., today announced the FinePix F650, adding yet another standout model to an already impressive digital camera line-up.

While the FinePix F650 slides easily into a pocket or clutch purse, its small size doesn’t prevent the camera from having a sharp 5x optical zoom lens. The 5x optical zoom lens of the FinePix F650 is manufactured by Fujinon, a world leader in lens technology.

In addition to its impressive lens, the FinePix F650 has a number of other noteworthy features:

• A 6.0 MegaPixel CCD image sensor. 6.0 MegaPixels is more than enough for standard 4 x 6-inch prints, however, if the user would like to make larger prints or alter an image with photo editing software, the extra resolution comes in handy.

• A 3-inch LCD. Framing subjects couldn’t be easier with the FinePix F650 large LCD, which has a 230,000 pixel-resolution and low-light gain up features. Sharing photos is just as easy with this super-size LCD.

• Internal memory. Memory cards can fill quickly, so having a little on-board storage is always helpful. The FinePix F650 will have extra storage space built-in.

• Ten scene modes. This includes shutter and aperture priority AE for more user control plus 30 frame-per-second movie mode with sound.

The FinePix F650 is available in June at a retail price of $349.
