For its second announcement of the day, Casio has unveiled its new EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z75 digital camera.

The EX-Z75 updates Casio's existing EX-Z70 model, with the most significant change being a new LCD display. Where the EX-Z70 had a 2.5" screen, the Casio Z75 expands this just slightly with a 2.6" widescreen display. There's also a newly added 16:9 aspect resolution shooting mode, compatibility with SDHC cards, and the Z75 is a scant four grams heavier than its predecessor. As with the earlier model, the Casio EX-Z75 combines a 1/2.5" CCD imager with seven megapixels and an EXILIM-branded 3x optical zoom lens with a fairly standard 38 - 114mm equivalent focal range. There's no optical viewfinder, and images are stored on Secure Digital / MultiMediaCards, or in 8.3MB of internal memory.

The Casio EXILIM EX-Z75 goes on sale in March, priced at $230.

CASIO INTRODUCES STYLISH NEW 7.2 MEGAPIXEL DIGITAL CAMERA

Generous new 2.6-inch wide LCD display makes camera information easier to view, more user-friendly

DOVER, NJ, JANUARY 30, 2007 — Casio, Inc. and its parent company Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced the introduction of the EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z75, a new addition to its stylish series of EXILIM® digital cameras. This latest member of the EXILIM family features a newly developed wide LCD display for improved image viewing, ease of use, and delivers effective 7.2 megapixels.

This new model follows Casio’s release last year of the 7.2-megapixel EX-Z70, a camera that featured the slim looks, quick shooting style, and large LCD display of an EXILIM while also making both camera setup and shooting simpler than ever. The EX-Z75 retains all the advanced functions of the EX-Z70, including Anti-Shake DSP for reducing photo blur due to shaky hands or moving subjects. Its new 2.6-inch wide LCD display makes it enjoyable for users to capture breathtaking wide aspect ratio images, and also makes the camera functions easier to see and operate.

“We are excited about the launch of the EX-Z75, the new high-quality, high-performance edition to EXILIM line,” said Bill Heuer, Vice President of Casio’s Digital Imaging Division. “Families and other casual camera users enthusiastically welcomed this camera’s predecessor and we are confident that they will do the same with the latest model.”

The EX-Z75 can display information on the right side of the ample screen, separate from the subject shown on the monitor while shooting. It enables users to quickly change settings on the information display when shooting. In Easy Mode, menus for simplifying a wide array of camera settings (flash, self-timer and image size) are also shown on the right side of the monitor for easy viewing and use.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Stylish, slim, compact model featuring 7.2 million effective pixels and 3X optical zoom.
  • Generous new 2.6-inch wide LCD display (14:9 aspect ratio).
  • Setting information displayed on right side of monitor to improve viewing and ease of use.
  • Easy Mode for simple shooting with intuitive menus.
  • Anti-Shake DSP for reducing photo blur due to shaky hands or moving subjects.

The EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z75 will have a suggested retail price of $229.99 and will be available at retail in March in four fashionable colors – pink, blue, black and silver.
