JACKSON, Mich. – Professional School Photographers Association International (PSPA™), a member association of PMA – the Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations – announces its PSPA 2010 Conference programming, Feb. 19-22, 2010 – featuring a combined 20 breakouts and general sessions geared toward fully educating school portrait companies, no matter the skill level or job function, built around the theme: “Networking toward a Brighter Future.”

PSPA 2010, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif., will also provide two luncheons (Saturday and Sunday), a lab and supplier reception (Saturday evening), along with a preconference facility tour (School Portraits by Kranz) on Friday, all adhering to providing its attendees exactly what the conference theme states: “Networking toward a Brighter Future.”

One of the programming highlights is the General Session: Secondary School Administrator Panel, featuring representatives from the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), representing different geographic markets, discussing ways to reach the school portrait decision maker (principal, yearbook advisor, or school administrator). Also, one lucky attendee will win a PC laptop with Adobe CS4 Suite at the end of this session (must be present to win).

Some other highlights for PSPA 2010 include:

  • A preconference tour on Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at one of the leading school portrait firms in the nation, School Portraits by Kranz, Santa, Ana, Calif.

  • Elementary School Principal Panel, featuring panelists from the National Association of Elementary School Principles (NAESP), where attendees can learn what really motivates their decisions for school portrait contracts.

  • New Products – New Profits with Ed Monahan, Eastman Kodak Co., who will discuss the forces shaping the school portrait market, including photo story books.

  • Selecting Yearbook Software: Online versus Desktop Solutions, featuring panelists from Walter’s Publishing, LumaPix (WebPix), Carr Publishing Co., and School Annual Publishing Co., who will present the latest and greatest publishing and yearbook software to ease production.

  • The PSPA/SPAA Lab and Supplier Reception, set for 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, will provide school and sports photographers a chance to meet one-on-one with photography product vendors and professional lab representatives, who will have tabletop displays at the event.

Admission to PSPA 2010 is included with thePMA All Conference Connection Pass, which also allows attendees to participate in any sessions in the Digital Imaging Marketing Association® (DIMA®), Sports Photographers Association of America (SPAA®), andProfessional Picture Framers Association™ (PPFA®) conferences. The cost of the All Conference Connection Pass is $299 per member and $399 per nonmember, which includes the choice of sessions from 5 conferences, plus a Full Trade Show Badge; or individual sessions can be purchased for $49 per member and $79 per nonmember.

PMA 2010 General Information

  • This will be the 86th annual PMA International Convention and Trade Show.

  • The PMA International Convention and Trade Show is the largest annual photo imaging trade show for the estimated $80 billion worldwide industry. It is open to business owners and executives in the photo imaging industry and to press and media representatives. It is not open to the public. PMA 2010 takes place Feb. 21-23, 2010, at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif., USA.

  • The convention will feature more than 300 speakers and chairpersons and will offer approximately 150 educational sessions covering topics such as digital imaging, employee training, business management, and sales and marketing. Select sessions are spoken in Spanish and German. Debuting features of this PMA convention include the Pro Photographer Business Boot Camp and the DIMA Brand Boot Camp.

  • Five allied imaging groups – DIMA, PSPA, PPFA, the Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA), and SPAA – hold their annual meetings and conference sessions in conjunction with the PMA convention. Colocating will be the PrintFest Expo Pavilion & Cross Media West Conference, an event for digital printers and direct marketing firms.
