PRESS RELEASE: Jellyfish Brings Home Delkin’s 6th Imaging Innovation Award in Four Years
Poway, Calif., February 20th, 2010 – Today the Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA) honored Delkin Devices with their sixth innovation award in only four years, this time for a unique floating waterproof accessory kit called the Jellyfish. The Delkin Jellyfish is the first uniquely versatile, protective waterproof flotation accessory designed to accompany and protect ruggedized waterproof digital cameras and personal accessories in whatever sport or activity that a photographer may be involved in, whether on land or in water.
A small brightly colored ball is used as the primary means of flotation, and is designed to keep any device weighing up to eight ounces buoyant in turbulent conditions such as surfing, boating and even whitewater rafting. The included wrist strap, watertight bag and camera tether can be clipped onto the flotation ball or removed via a sturdy embedded steel clip. These four main components can be connected to one another in any number of ways to accommodate whatever sport or activity that a photographer may be involved in. Since every component of the Jellyfish is fluorescent in color, the user can be assured that their camera can be easily found in water, snow, ice and more.
“There isn’t any other product available that identifies and accommodates the needs of the growing waterproof compact camera photography market completely,” explains Product Manager, Anna Lopez. “The Jellyfish not only has the widest use, but also the highest compatibility among all brands and models of waterproof compact cameras. It is a valuable accessory to the casual beach go-er, the avid surfer, the world traveler, the cave explorer, the skier, the fisherman, and more.”

The Jellyfish’s wrist strap is designed to mimic a standard compact camera wrist strap, with the ability to clip the flotation feature on or off depending on the activity. That means that if the photographer goes from snorkeling in the ocean to zip lining through the jungle, the flotation ball can be quickly removed between activities and the camera never has to leave the safety of the photographers wrist.
In most water situations a photographer has a few other necessary items that must be brought along, such as a cell phone, keys, or sunglasses. To accommodate this, the Jellyfish includes a small watertight bag that can be clipped onto the flotation ball or a belt loop to protect valuables up to 5 feet under water. As an added feature for those who enjoy a refreshing beverage at the end of a day filled with water activities, a low profile bottle opener is molded into the flotation ball - alleviating the need to carry around another device. All four components of the Jellyfish can be combined or removed in any such order to customize the device for each unique activity.
The Jellyfish is expected to begin shipping by April of 2010, and will be available for purchase at an array of digital camera stores and retailer chains worldwide for $19.99, or at the company's website, www.delkin.com.
