October 1, 2001, NY, NY – Photo District News (PDN), the leading publication for professional photographers, announced today new photography products to be unveiled by the top-selling photography companies at PhotoPlus Expo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City November 1-3, 2001. Leading photo companies, such as Olympus, Nikon, Canon and others will take advantage of the large volume of press, customers, and photography experts attending PhotoPlus Expo to demonstrate new cameras and accessories for the first time.

New Digital Cameras:

Olympus will demonstrate for the first time, the D-40 "world’s smallest 4 Megapixel digital camera;" as well as new never-before-seen digital cameras, the E-20N, a 5 Megapixel SLR with the first dual interlaced and progressive scan CCD system and the hot consumer model, the Brio D-230. Other unannounced Olympus products will also be introduced at PhotoPlus Expo.

Nikon will show its new D1 digital SLRs, the D1X for the best possible image quality and the D1H for motor drive speed. Both use a wide range of Nikkor lenses. Nikon will also display its just announced CoolPix 5000, a 5 Megapixel camera that offers a wide range of new and expanded features.

Leading off Kodak’s list of new products, is the just introduced DCS 720x high-end digital SLR that Kodak says has a shutter response speed said to "rival that of conventional film cameras." The Kodak Professional DSC Pro Back Plus is the very latest version of Kodak’s recently introduced 16-million pixel digital camera back, which now can be used with any medium format camera with an electronic shutter. Kodak’s new Ultima Picture Paper line is a heavy weight inkjet paper with longevity ratings of 20-to more than 30 years depending on the printer used.

Canon will be introducing its new high-end 4 Megapixel digital SLR, the EOS-1D, capable of 8fps for 21 frames (JPEG) using a 28.7mm x 19.1mm chip. The 1D generally has the look, feel, tough construction and long list of functions of Canon’s flagship EOS1V. There is also a new 16mm-35mm f/2.8L USM wide-angle zoom which will deliver an excellent range of wide-angle coverage with the EOS-1D and a brand new macro ring light flash system.

Film Cameras:

Hasselblad is showing its brand new 905SWC, the latest in their super-wide camera line with a permanently attached Zeiss Biogon 38mm lens that has been upgraded to CFi status with a completely recalculated optical design. Also worth a look are Hasselblad 501 and 503 SLRs, available for the first time in colors.

Digital Backs:
