'eyelike MF' digital camera backs will be upgradeable to the latest Philips imager next summer...
A press release from German technology company Jenoptik AG announces that its eyelike MF digital camera backs will be upgradeable to a new image sensor from Philips due to ship next year. Existing eyelike MF owners and new purchasers alike will be able to have their cameras upgraded with the new 4008 x 2672 pixel, 11 megapixel sensor which will give image file sizes of 256MB when used in the camera's 16-shot mode. Pricing for existing owners has not yet been announced, but customers purchasing the camera from October 2001 onwards can get the upgrade when available for US$6,000 (North America) or €6,000 (Europe).
