Nikon strives to provide support for the latest operating systems for both our digital cameras and film scanners. As such, we would like to inform you of Nikon's plans for support of Microsoft Windows XP Home & Professional Editions. The information below will allow you to assess the compatibility of your product(s) at this time, and Nikon's plans for the near future regarding Windows XP support.
1. Nikon Coolpix Digital Cameras
Nikon plans full support under Windows XP for the following products:
Coolpix 775 Coolpix 880 Coolpix 885 Coolpix 990 Coolpix 995 Coolpix 5000
Nikon is currently developing an upgrade for Nikon View 4 that will be released between late November and mid-December 2001.
When one of the current versions of Nikon View 4 (version numbers: 4.0, 4.1, 4.1.1, or 4.2) is used with Windows XP and the Coolpix 995, Coolpix 885 or Coolpix 775 is connected to the computer via the USB interface, both the Windows XP Auto Play and the Nikon View 4 automatic pop-up screen will be launched simultaneously. If you would prefer to transfer images using Nikon View 4 or using the built-in "TRANSFER" button of the Coolpix 885 or Coolpix 775 camera, please close Windows XP Auto Play, or disable it completely.
Nikon has no plans to support the following products with Windows XP:
(a) Nikon View version 3.1.1 for COOLPIX 990 and 880 via USB interface. Please note both cameras are supported by Nikon View Version 4. (b) Serial connectivity for the following cameras: Coolpix 700, 800, 880, 900, 900S, 950, 990 (c) Coolpix 600 driver software, Nikon View 600 (d) Coolpix 300 driver software (e) Coolpix 100 camera
2. Nikon Professional Digital SLR Cameras
Nikon plans full support under Windows XP for the following products:
D1 D1X D1H
Current software versions of Nikon View 4.x, Nikon Capture 2.0 and 2.0.1 are not compatible with Windows XP; an upgraded version of Nikon View 4 and Nikon Capture 2.0.x will be compatible with Windows XP Home Edition and Professional Edition. During November 2001, we will make an announcement about the availability date for the upgraded software. Current plans call for the upgrades to be available at no charge via download from the Internet.
Please note that the following additional software packages do not support Windows XP: Nikon View DX, NikonView ES, Nikon Capture 1.x(x), and E2 Browser. There are no plans to update these products. For use with Windows XP, please replace Nikon View DX with the Nikon View 4 free download, or please purchase the planned upgraded version of Nikon Capture 2.
3. Nikon scanners:
Nikon plans full support under Windows XP for the following products:
Coolscan III (LS-30) Coolscan IV ED (LS-40) Super Coolscan (LS-2000) Super Coolscan 4000 ED (LS-4000) Super Coolscan 8000 ED (LS-8000)
Nikon has confirmed that the current version of NikonScan 3 software (Version 3.1 or older) does not support Windows XP. We are currently planning to distribute updated software at no charge via download from the Internet.
Nikon has no plans to support the following products with Windows XP:
Coolscan (LS-10) Coolscan II (LS-20) Super Coolscan (LS-1000)
LS-3500 LS-3510AF LS-4500AF
Scantouch AX-110 Scantouch AX-210 Scantouch AX-1200
4. Nikon Printers
Nikon has no plans to support the following products with Windows XP:
