Nikon's first 5-megapixel Coolpix in Steve Sanders' capable hands...
Nikon's Coolpix 5000 digital camera, the company's first 5 megapixel model, is also its first flagship model to feature a tilt/swivel LCD display rather than the swivelling body design which has been the most recognizable characteristic of past models. The camera has attracted a great deal of interest (we've been watching our bandwidth with interest recently as would-be owners download our sample images en-masse), and our friends at Steve's Digicams have now posted their full review - concluding as follows: "The Coolpix 5000 has all the features you'd expect in a top of the line digital camera. The white balance works very well and I only used settings other than Auto when I was dealing with mixed lighting sources indoors. Overall color saturation and dynamic range is very good, the user has a variety of settings for both saturation and contrast to suit most any shooting environment. Is it perfect? No, it isn't, but then neither is the D1X, EOS-1D or any other digital camera." For the full story, read Steve's review in its entirity.
