The end of the story looks to be nearing (finally) as members get one last chance to retrieve their photos...

An email from Ron Smith of the Free Republic website, who's contacted us numerous times in the past regarding the ongoing situation at bankrupt online photo site PhotoPoint.com, alerted us to the fact that the deadline to retrieve photos has been extended. As we told you early last month, members can choose to retrieve any images lost when the site went down for a flat-rate cost of $24.95 plus shipping $9.95 shipping (inside the US and Canada only).

We also note that customers outside of the US and Canada now have the chance to order CDs as well. Dale Gass, CEO of PhotoPoint's owner Pantellic Software (now also bankrupt) noted in an email to us that he was working to find a solution for these customers, and it would seem that he has done so.

The deadline for ordering backups of images (which include the captions and guest book entries) has been extended from April 30th through to May 31st 2002, due to problems getting emails out to members advising them of the chance to get their albums back. This is, according to the site, the last chance to retrieve those lost memories - orders must be received by May 31st and paid for by June 15th. If you have been hesitating, think now - you haven't much longer to decide!

Thanks to Ron Smith / Free Republic for this item!
