Plenty of photos from Nikon's much-anticipated D100 digital SLR, soon to go on sale in the US market...

Apologies for the delay in getting these up there, but I think the result is worth it: I now have a full set of my standard comparison images shot with the Nikon D100 posted. It's perhaps no surprise that the image quality is excellent, but what I personally found a little surprising is that the images really seem superior to those of the D1x, in almost every respect. (To my eye at least, if only by a little bit.) Resolution is clearly better, thanks to the square pixels of the D100 vs the rectangular ones of the D1x. Color and noise are excellent, and I found the ISO 1600 setting to be quite usable for normal photography. (Obviously a matter of taste obviously, depending on your personal tolerance for image noise. I do think that the D100 is quite good in this respect though.) I also have a fair collection of "random" sample images that I'll try to get together into a gallery in the next couple of days, and post them as well. Check it out!

No doubt about it, this is a truly superb camera, just what a lot of folks like myself have been waiting for. (People with a kit of Nikon glass, willing to indulge at least somewhat in high-priced digital gear, but not to the tune of $5K plus.) This is clearly going to be one of the hottest sellers in Nikon's history. (Speaking of which, if you're interested in this camera, you may want to sign up for my "preorder notification list." - Register your name and email address, and I'll email you as soon as our affiliate partner RitzCamera.com starts accepting preorders.)
