Casio: QV5700 nears release By

We told you back at the end of last month that a new digital camera was coming from Casio, and further details have now been uncovered by our friends at Dutch website LetsGoDigital.nl.
In our original item we noted that the Casio QV-5700 would have a 5 megapixel imager, USB connectivity, Type-II CompactFlash storage, and a bundle with a 1GB IBM Microdrive for around €1000. New details from LetsGoDigital include: - Available at the end of October 2002
- 5.36 megapixel imager
- 34 - 102mm 3x optical zoom lens
- Resolutions of 2560 x 1920, 2544 x 1696 (3:2), 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960 and 640 x 480 pixels in three JPEG compression levels or TIFF uncompressed
- ISO ratings of 50, 100, 200, 400, 800
- Apertures of f/2.0 / f/2.5 - f/8.0
- Shutter speeds 1/1000 to 60 seconds
- Focusing distance of 30cm - infinity, macro focusing to 6cm
- External flash sync connector
- Auto and manual capabilities; Macro, Movie, Panorama, Single and Continuous modes
- Multi, Center-weighted or Spot metering
- LU-35A adapter allows use of converter lenses or filters
- Histogram function
- Nine-area autofocus
- Weighs 355 grams, measures 118 x 74.5 x 64.5mm
- Power from 4 x AA NiMH batteries
