We didn't have time to mention this whilst we were away at Comdex, but saw from our friends in the UK at the Digital Photography Review website of a new digital camera model from Fuji, the S602 Pro Zoom.
The camera (described in detail in DPReview's coverage) is very similar to the existing FinePix S602 Zoom, with the addition of a PC Sync socket, manual threaded cable release socket, black body finish, and an expanded bundle including a 340MB Microdrive, a fast-charger and 4 NiMH AA batteries.
We've now spoken to Fuji in the USA, and were told that the camera is "not planned for sale in the US for the foreseeable future". Whilst we do cover non-US announcements, not that we only review products available in the US market, since we're a US site, and that's where the vast bulk of our readers are located. Should our colleagues in Europe review the camera, however, we'll post a link on our news page...
UPDATED 2002-12-06 02:13ET: A Canadian camera dealer kindly contacted us to let us know that the Fuji FinePix S602 Pro Zoom will apparently be sold in that market, and is expected to arrive just before Christmas. Canadian readers will be pleased to hear this, we're sure; American readers tempted to order from Canada should remember to consider any tax, duty or warranty implications. (Not being versed in US import laws, Mike honestly doesn't know what taxes or duties might apply, but at the very least you'd have to return your camera to Fuji Canada if a warranty repair was necessary - which could prove inconvenient).
