Samsung Duocam Mini-DV Camcorder Takes 4.1-Mp Stills By

LAS VEGAS -- Samsung Electronics America, Inc., introduced its $1,399.99 Duo Cam SCD-5000, a Mini-DV camcorder that also takes high resolutions stills here at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Using two dedicated lenses, it has a 680K-pixel CCD Mini-DV system for digital video and a 4.1-megapixel Schneider optics lens for still photography and stores images on Memory Stick.
"The SCD-5000 is the perfect device for consumers seeking both performance and convenience in digital imaging. No longer will they have to worry about fumbling between two cameras or having to carry them both. The Duo-cam's dual lens design delivers enough performance to satisfy the most demanding camera enthusiasts," said J.R. deSouza, Samsung digital video marketing manager. "Its convenience provides a solution to parents who want to spend their time enjoying the moment, not trying to capture it."
The DuoCam SCD-5000 adds a 10x optical zoom and 800x digital zoom for video plus 3x optical and 6x digital zoom and built-in auto flash for stills.
Other features include a two-inch Optimum Vision LCD screen, color viewfinder., Samsung's Nite Pix and Power Nite Pix technology for capturing low-light video, MPEG4 video clip recording onto Memory Stick, plus USB and FireWire/IEEE-1394 ports.
Samsung said the DuoCam SCD-5000 will be available in May.
