PRESS RELEASE: Future Image and the International Imaging Industry Association Announce Executive Summit on Mobile Imaging
SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Feb. 25, 2003 -- Future Image, the leading independent center of expertise on the convergence of imaging, technology, and business, and I3A, the leading global imaging industry association, are pleased to announce the next event in a series of executive conferences focused on the imaging revolution in communication. The "Mobile Imaging 2003 Summit - Capture/Transmission/Management/Output" will focus on the explosive convergence of image capture with mobile devices, its future direction, and its impact on customers and on business opportunities.
"In the past 20 years the imaging industry has been swept by two major technology waves that fundamentally changed the way we do business: the digitization of image content, and the Internet," said Alexis Gerard, president, Future Image Inc. "Mobile Imaging is the third such wave. Analysts in our WIRE (Wireless Imaging Research Edition) continuous information service estimate that sales of mobile phones with integrated cameras rose by an amazing 500% year over year, to 18 million units in 2002. By 2005 they expect them to reach 150 million units, dwarfing sales of standalone cameras. This unprecedented shift will rapidly result in hundreds of millions of people becoming equipped with image capture devices they have with them at all times -- and that are network-enabled. Future Image is delighted to ally itself with I3A, to deliver a high-value forum to analyze the business challenges and opportunities raised by this convergence."
The "Mobile Imaging 2003 Summit" will offer presentations and interactive discussions covering: - A technology roadmap for mobile imaging over the next 12, 24, and 36 months -- bandwidth, resolution and other key capabilities at both the front and back ends of the technology chain
- Projected changes in the expectations, behaviors, and requirements of users in both the business and consumer markets as a result of these new capabilities
- Identifying the revenue streams for suppliers and users, and necessary strategies to tap into them
"I3A's mission is to advance the use of imaging and drive market growth and this summit will go a long way toward catalyzing the use of images in pursuit of those objectives," explained Lisa Walker, president, International Imaging Industry Association. "Meeting with industry leaders and their business clients will provide a forum to discuss ways in which the industry as a whole can extend the influence and impact imaging has on the way we communicate."
All sessions will be conducted in the highly interactive manner that is the trademark of Future Image's executive events, highlighting key issues and promoting discussion by industry-leading participants both onstage and off. This event will build upon Future Image's recent by-invitation-only Visual Communication Summit, held jointly with Forbes magazine in New York in October 2002, which brought together top executives to discuss issues and opportunities and to forge alliances for success in this third wave of imaging. The addition of I3A's influence and support to the event will ensure this summit is even more successful than the last.
