One of the biggest bugaboos for users of digicams (and the one I probably get the most complaints over from readers) is shutter lag - the delay between when you push the shutter button and when the camera actually takes the picture.
There hasn't seemed to be much hope for improvement, as none of the major camera makers have managed to get full-autofocus shutter lag much below three-quarters of a second. Now comes Ricoh, with their Caplio RR30, and shutter lag times on the order of 0.2 seconds. (! - Are you listening, Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Sony?) THIS is where digicam shutter lag times should be!
Unfortunately, I was less impressed with the RR30's color quality and user interface, but if you need *really* fast shutter response in a consumer-level digicam, the RR30's the only game in town. Check it out!
