UMAX Introduces the PowerLook 1120 for Imaging and Graphics Professionals

High-end scanner provides accurate and precise reproduction at 1200dpi with a maximum optical density of 3.7 DMax

DALLAS, TX., July 15, 2003 -UMAX Technologies, Inc., announced the PowerLook 1120 for Macintosh and PC graphics and imaging professionals. The PowerLook 1120 features a high optical density and is equipped with a multisampling function, which reduces image noise and increases the density range.

The PowerLook 1120 features Macintosh Peer-to-Peer communication, allowing two or more computers to share the same scanner when they are daisy-chained together via FireWire bus. The hot-pluggability feature allows users to connect or disconnect the scanner without having restart the entire system.

"With an optical density of 3.7 maximum density (DMax), the PowerLook 1120 gives graphics professionals the ability to capture detail in more depth," , said Christabel Chen, vice president of sales and marketing for UMAX. "The PowerLook 1120 is twice the speed as identical scanners with the SCSI interface, making it the ideal scanner for busy graphics professionals."

The PowerLook 1120 offers solid construction along with extensive software options to meet the needs of professional and semi-professional customers.

By choosing, in MagicScan, High Density or in SilverFast, Multisampling, the CCD-array will recapture image data at the same position, saving the data in a buffer before moving to the next position. The saved image information is then combined to produce the resulting image, which displays reduced noise and improved fine details even in the darkest area.

The SilverFast Ai 6.0 software bundle with IT8 Calibration Targets (one reflective 5"x7" and one transmissive 4"x5" calibration target) features SilverFast Ai software that sets a new standard for ease of control and sophistication for desktop scanners.

The RGB software bundle includes binuscan PhotoPerfect RGB automatic color correction software and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0, a powerful digital imaging solution for photographers and graphic designers. With the full set of image editing tools in Photoshop Elements, it's easy to create masterful designs. For a limited time, PowerLook 1120 users can upgrade from Photoshop Elements to Photoshop 7.0 for $299 (a $600 value).

PC System Requirements: Pentium II or higher, CD-ROM drive, hard drive with 300MB free disk space, 64MB memory, Microsoft Windows 98se, Me, 2000, or XP. SVGA or higher graphics card is recommended. IEEE-1394 port is required.

Macintosh System Requirements: Power Macintosh G4, G3, or iMac DV, CD-ROM drive, hard drive with 300MB free disk space, 64MB memory, Mac OS 9.x, 10.1.3 - 10.2.x. SVGA or higher graphics card is recommended. FireWire port is required.
