Hewlett Packard Co. has announced two new closely-related photo printers that use 4x6 inch or 4x6.5 inch media.
Both printers share the same engine with 1200dpi resolution and PhotoRET III technology, along with extremely similar body designs. They also both offer CompactFlash Type I and II and Microdrive, SmartMedia, Secure Digital, Multi Media Card, Memory Sticks (Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro, Magic Gate), and xD-Picture Card compatibility courtesy of slots in the front of the printers. The difference is simple - the PhotoSmart 245 offers a 1.8-inch color LCD display, where the Photosmart 145 features a 2-line text LCD display. Pricing is set at $149 for the Photosmart 145, and $199 for the Photosmart 245, with availability expected later this month.
