Evanston, IL, USA - Selteco today announced the release of the Photo Lab software product which simplifies and streamlines digital image editing. Photo Lab provides all essential photo processing tools in one handy application.

Photo Lab can acquire images from all TWAIN compatible devices like scanners or digital cameras, import screenshots or copy images from a Web page. The tool is also great for more complex graphic design. Photo Lab works in multi-layer true color mode. Users can add other graphic elements like text, import transparent bitmaps or copy and rasterize vector graphics from any external editing application like Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator.

Photo enthusiasts can enhance their pictures by correcting brightness and contrast, sharpening, adjusting levels, gamma, or saturation in instant preview mode. Color temperature setting allows to make photo tones warmer or colder, control white balance of the image, create classic look like sepia effects.

Photo Lab provides a number of options to export images for the Web. Real-life photos can be optimized in JPEG format, while cartoon-like graphics can be compressed as GIF file. Users can control export parameters and preview compressed graphic before it's saved to the disk, so they can quickly and precisely balance between image quality and file size.

Digital camera owners can better control their prints by cropping the image to fit output print size. When making the most standard print 4x6" (10x15cm), the top and bottom part of the photo is discarded. Users can choose one of the standard print size 4x6", 5x7" or 8x10" and select what area of the photo to fit on the print.

Advanced graphic designers can utilize a variety of color reduction commands to prepare dithered photos where true color can not be used, for example when a real-life photo must be exported in GIF format. Color reduction can be also used to create artistic monochrome or duotone effects.

Photo Lab supports images in the most popular formats like TIFF, BMP, GIF and JPEG. It can also open multi-layer Photoshop files in PSD format.

The software costs $39.00 as downloadable product or $49.00 as boxed, and is available for Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and XP.
