PRESS RELEASE: New KODAK Photo Printer 6800 Delivers Durable, High-Quality 5x7 Photos for Professional Photographers
High-Speed System Offers 'While You Wait' Printing at a Competitive Price
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 12 Eastman Kodak Company brings even more speed and exceptional performance to thermal printing technology with the introduction of its KODAK Photo Printer 6800. The robust, transportable system delivers a high-quality 5x7-inch photo in only 20 seconds and as many as 375 5x7 prints without operator intervention.
Kodak's new thermal output system operates faster than similarly priced competitors' thermal and inkjet printers. Reflecting its dry, thermal technology, the 6800 printer meets the demanding needs of event photographers and photographic studios.
"The 6800 printer delivers high-quality photos faster than the photographer can set up the next image," said Sue Gringer, Worldwide Marketing Manager, Studio Solutions. "It's ideal because it blends exceptional printing speed with the outstanding quality and durability of KODAK prints."
The 6800 printer combines Kodak's best technologies in thermal output. Available in 4x6, 6x8 and 5x7-inch sizes, the water-resistant prints last a lifetime, and deliver exceptional color reproduction and durability. Its media -KODAK PROFESSIONAL ribbon and paper - costs per print are competitively priced.
The printer easily integrates into photographers' existing workflows and is easy to operate and maintain. The long paper roll and matching ribbon length minimizes the need for media changes.
The printer is supported by WINDOWS 2000 and XP operating systems. It connects via a USB 2.0 or 1.1 interface, and comes with a power cable, dust covers, a ribbon carrier, print drivers, user documentation and calibration utility.
The printer - part of the venerable family of KODAK professional thermal printers that includes the ML 500, 8500 and 8660 printer - comes with a one-year warranty. An Advance Unit Replacement policy means a "down" or defective printer will be replaced in one business day.
The KODAK Photo Printer 6800 carries a suggested U.S. list price of less than $3,000. It will be available in the second quarter from authorized dealers of KODAK PROFESSIONAL Thermal Printer products.
