Japanese companies Epson and Cosina have come up with quite a surprise for this year's PMA.

Imaging heavyweight Epson has partnered with Cosina, a manufacturer of vintage-styled cameras that also makes cameras on an OEM basis for other manufacturers, to create an extremely interesting looking interchangeable lens rangefinder digital camera. The (as-yet unnamed) Epson / Cosina camera will accept Leica M-type lenses, and offers both a large rangefinder and a tilt / swivel LCD display.

No specifications, availability or pricing information are available currently; two signs on the stand in which the camera is shown behind glass state:

"Unique digital camera created and engineered by EPSON and developed in partnership with COSINA CO., LTD"

"The Seiko Epson Corporation will release further information in the middle of March 2004."
