A press release from Canon Japan announces that the company will soon be offering something we've heard numerous requests for - an all-black version of the EOS-300D digital camera, known in that country as the EOS Kiss Digital.

The camera is identical in form and function to the existing silver version, but the black body might stand out a little less (making it easier to get spontaneous pictures, and possibly slightly less likely to be stolen), as well as matching the all-black lenses most EOS-300D owners will be buying.

Canon Japan is also tweaking its lineup slightly, adding a new "EOS Kiss Digital Welcome Kit" to the selection in both silver and black-bodied variants. This kit includes both the EF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 USM lens, and the EF 55-200mm F4.5-5.6 II USM lens. Including both body colors and the existing body only / EF-S 18-55mm lens and body bundles, this brings the company to six different product bundles for consumers to choose from in Japan. The four new bundles will all ship from April 24th. Pricing hasn't been announced, but we'd presume will be similar to pricing for the existing silver-bodied variants.

At this time, we've not heard of any plans from Canon US or Europe to offer the black-bodied version of the EOS-300D, known Stateside as the Digital Rebel. Low resolution images of the camera can be seen on Canon Japan's website.
