PRESS RELEASE: Cingular Wireless and Kodak team up to give folks something to smile about
Companies Sponsor National Photo Contest, Benefiting Make-A-Wish Foundation
ATLANTA and ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 13 -- Cingular Wireless and Eastman Kodak Company today announced they are looking for America's cheeriest smiles as part of a national photo contest: Share a Smile.
From now through May 29, for every smile snapped and submitted using a camera phone with Multimedia Messaging (MMS), Cingular customers have a chance to win one $10,000 grand prize and the opportunity to have their photo displayed on the Kodak billboard in New York City's Times Square. Weekly winners will receive a new Motorola V400 flip-phone with integrated camera. Something else to smile about is that for every picture received, a donation will be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® -- up to $25,000 total.* The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Additionally, all those who submit pictures will receive a 90-day free trial to KODAK Mobile Service, which offers camera phone users anytime, anywhere access to their digital photos and phone-captured video.
"Cingular's growing line of camera phones makes it easier than ever to capture and share a smile," said Rob Hyatt, Executive Director of Data Products and Services at Cingular Wireless. "And KODAK Mobile Service gives consumers a convenient and affordable place to store their photos. We hope this contest will give our customers an opportunity to learn about camera phones and Multimedia Messaging, as well as a chance to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation."
Entering the Share a Smile contest is a snap. Cingular customers simply use their camera phone to snap a photo of their favorite smiling face and send it to 76453 (SMILE) using the Multimedia Messaging feature of their phone. Once received and screened for content, photos will be posted to www.cingular.com/shareasmile allowing customers to view all submissions and the latest products, services, and special offers from both companies.
"Kodak is equally excited to work with Cingular on such a great promotion that benefits a truly inspiring organization," said Kodak's David Rich. "We hope to encourage people to enjoy and maximize the use of their camera phones using KODAK Mobile Service, capture some great smiles for a chance to win cool prizes, and help an organization that brings smiles to a lot of children around the world."
Cingular's Multimedia Messaging service allows customers to share photos instantly, directly from their camera phone with any email address or another wireless phone. Kodak's recently introduced KODAK Mobile Service offers camera phone users anytime, anywhere access to their digital photos and phone-captured video. Using the KODAK Mobile Service, Cingular's MMS customers can transfer and store mobile phone-captured photos, share albums and even order prints of their mobile phone-captured photos.
Cingular offers the widest selection of Multimedia Messaging phones -- 14 are multimedia capable and five are integrated camera phones. Cingular also offers simple pricing options, with no airtime, kilobyte, or domestic roaming charges.
Customers can choose to pay $0.25 per message or sign up for one of Cingular's Multimedia Messaging packages for an even better value. Any Cingular customer who has a camera phone can activate KODAK Mobile Service online at www.cingular.com/sharenow or by calling 866-CINGULAR.
