New PIXMA™ Models Provide All-in-One Solution That Fits Consumers' Digital Imaging Needs to Print High-Quality Photos, Copy, and Scan Documents in the Home or Office
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Sept. 9, 2004 — Further expanding its line of PIXMA branded products, Canon designed its three new Photo All-In-One models to fit today's consumers' wide-ranging needs. Canon's compact new PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One enables users to print, copy, and scan for just $99.99*. For added functionality, Canon's new PIXMA MP750 and MP780 Photo All-In-One models deliver a key combination of speed, outstanding image quality, and advanced media handling that provide high productivity for the home and office.
"With the launch of our new PIXMA Photo All-In-One printers, we are providing consumers with a one-device solution that creates beautiful photographs and includes features commonly found in a variety of office devices," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE CAJ). "With their sleek, space-saving design, excellent photo quality, and multi-function features, our new PIXMA branded Photo All-In-Ones deliver quality and value to the discerning consumer looking for both a personal and professional home office solution."
Canon PIXMA MP780 and MP750 Photo All-In-Ones
The new PIXMA MP780 and MP750 Photo All-In-One models offer an impressive mix of features including the ability to print, copy, scan, produce outstanding photo quality prints, and, specifically on the PIXMA MP780 Photo All-In-One model, fax in color or black and white. Both models feature one cable, one power source, and one driver installation, providing a space-saving design and easy installation.
The integrated 35-page auto document feeder on both models further increases productivity and helps facilitate larger copy jobs. Both products offer a duplex unit that provides double sided printing and copying — saving both time and paper. They also feature dual paper paths, including an auto sheet feeder and a front-loading cassette paper tray, which enables users to switch from plain paper to special photo paper at the touch of a button on the machine. For added convenience, both models also feature electronic sorting, which has the ability to automatically collate multiple copies.
With print speeds of up to 25 pages-per-minute (ppm) in black** and up to 17 ppm in color**, both the PIXMA MP780 and MP750 Photo All-In-Ones provide fast performance for home and office settings. Borderless 4"x6" photos can be printed on both models in as little as 36-seconds**.
For those looking to fax from home or the office, the PIXMA MP780 Photo All-In-One features a Super G3 fax modem††† for color and black-and-white faxing. A 250-page memory helps to ensure that no faxes are ever lost, regardless if the machine runs out of paper.
Copy and Scan with Speed and Flexibility
The PIXMA MP780 and MP750 Photo All-In-One models incorporate an auto document feeder and flatbed scanner and copier. When scanning photos or other images, high-resolution scanning and accurate color reproduction can be achieved with a maximum 2400 x 4800 dpi optical resolution and 48/24 bit (in/out) scanning depth. Both models can also create borderless copies of photos or documents in 4"x6", 5"x7" and letter sizes. Users also have the ability to scan paper documents that can be stored electronically as PDF files with the 'Scan-to-PDF' function from within the driver.
Canon's Ink System
Both the PIXMA MP780 and MP750 Photo All-In-One models utilize Canon's unique five-color ContrastPLUS™ ink system, which, in addition to the high-speed text and graphics pigment-based black ink tank, incorporates a dye-based photo-grade black ink tank for photo printing, delivering excellent image contrast and overall sharpness, particularly when used on photo paper. In order to reduce waste, each ink color is stored in a transparent, individually replaceable tank. As a result users have to replace only the ink that runs out, not the entire cartridge containing unused ink. Additionally, users can check the ink levels by looking at the LCD found on the front of the printer.
PictBridge Technology for Direct Photo Printing
Canon's new MP780 and MP750 printers feature PictBridge technology for direct photo printing. Consumers can easily print pictures at home or the office, from any PictBridge enabled digital camera or camcorder***. Users simply connect the digital camera or camcorder to the printer with the USB cable that came with their camera.
Canon PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One
The new PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One is a compact machine that can print, high quality photos and text, copy documents or photographs, and scan photos and other images all for $99.99*. The new PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One prints at up to 18 ppm in black** and up to 13 ppm in color**. Users can print true edge-to-edge borderless 4"x6" photos in only 58 seconds**. A six-in-one slot on the PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One enables consumers to print direct from select memory cards.
For high quality scans and copies, the MP130 device includes a maximum 1200 x 2400 dpi flatbed scanner, which can achieve a 9600 x 9600 dpi maximum scanning resolution with software enhancement. With Multi-Photo, the PIXMA MP130 model creates individual files from multiple photographs scanned in a single pass. To make copying and ink level detection easy, the PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One features an informational LCD panel.
FINE Photographs and Text
All of the new PIXMA Photo All-In-Ones feature Canon's exclusive FINE high-performance print heads. FINE technology (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) delivers sub-micron level precision during the printing process. FINE print heads are the only consumer-oriented print heads to achieve an actual 1,200 dpi nozzle pitch and are manufactured without machining or assembly.
The FINE print heads found in Canon's PIXMA MP750 and MP780 Photo All-In-Ones have 1856 total nozzles that can eject millions of ink droplets as small as two picoliters each second. This unique method produces detailed images with outstanding resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi. Users will experience greater accuracy for virtually grain-free prints as well as a large color range, brilliant clarity and smoothness of tones.
Canon's FINE high performance print heads in the PIXMA MP130 Photo All-In-One supports outstanding resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi and clear, detailed images. A USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface facilitates fast image transfer and scanning speeds, enabling users to scan high quality documents, cards, photos and books with the 1200 dpi optical resolution scanner built-in at a vibrant 48-bit color depth.
Software Simplicity
MP Navigator software, an entirely new utility, is supplied to help users get immediate optimum quality results with minimum fuss. Users select the required process (e.g. scan, print image from PC, then select the desired output: photo print, PC copy, OCR, printing or save as a file or PDF).
All three new PIXMA Photo All-In-Ones are MAC compatible and are bundled with an updated version of the very popular Easy-PhotoPrint software (Windows®/Mac®). New tools added to this version of Easy-PhotoPrint include Face Sharpener, Face Brightener, and Blemish Remover.

Other software that ships with the PIXMA MP750 and MP780 models† includes ScanSoft OmniPage SE OCR software, Easy-WebPrint software†† (Windows only), and Presto!PageManager software (Windows only).
