This one is a near twin of the Nikon Coolpix 5600 that we reviewed just a few days ago.

As I always do with very similar cameras like this though, we went ahead and ran the full range of our tests on both models, rather than just combining them into a single review. As a result, we found that the 4600 had a bit harder time at low light shooting than did the 5600, and that its color is even more highly saturated. Despite these issues though, I named the Nikon 4600 a "Dave's Pick", in recognition of its good basic photo quality, ease of use, and broad scene- and framing-assist modes that help novices take better pictures. Its selection as a Dave's Pick was also in part influenced by its low price point for a four-megapixel, 3x optical zoom digital camera.

Read our review of the Nikon Coolpix 4600 for all the details!
