A news item today from EMSNow, a site covering news in the electronic manufacturing services industry, reports on annual shareholder's meetings for two Taiwanese digicam manufacturers.
According to the article, Premier Image Technology is expecting to ship a whopping 800,000 digital cameras this month. For the remainder of the year, the company plans to sell around a million units per month, courtesy of a new factory in the Guangdong, China town of Foshan. Over half of the company's sales are five or six megapixel models, according to the article.
Ability Enterprise, meanwhile, is expective five megapixel or higher cameras to make up an impressive 70% of its shipments this quarter. The wording of the article is somewhat confusing, but we believe suggests that Ability will shortly reach total sales of four million cameras thus far this year. The company intends to begin shipping eight megapixel digicams by the end of the year...
