Sigma UK has today announced updated versions of its 1.4x and 2.0x tele converters optimised for use with digital SLRs.

Our friends over at the Digital Photography Review website have picked up an English language press release which mirrors the original Japanese announcement from the end of July. The converters both externally look similar to Sigma's existing non-DG versions, but have added multilayer coatings and a lens design aimed at reducing flare and ghosting.

Availability isn't specified in the English release, but Canon, Nikon and Sigma-mount versions of the Sigma APO Tele Converter 2.0x EX DG began shipping in Japan late last month. Versions of the Sigma APO Tele Converter 1.4x EX DG for the same three mounts were initially scheduled for availability at the same time, but have been delayed until October 29th.

Sigma Japan's website also lists product codes for Pentax and Konica Minolta versions of both tele converters, but notes that availability dates for these versions aren't yet decided.
