PRESS RELEASE: Sinar Bron Imaging Introduces Broncolor Verso A2 Power Pack

Innovation in Professional Flash Photography Delivers Exceptional Speed, Versatility

EDISON, N.J., May 22, 2006 -- Broncolor, the leader in the development of high-end professional flash and lighting systems, has announced an exciting innovation in professional flash photography with its launch of the Broncolor Verso A2 Power Pack. The new Broncolor Power Pack is an ideal lighting solution for studio and location photographers, thanks to its ability to utilize an AC or Battery power source. The Broncolor Power Pack combines high intensity output and short recharge time, and features sturdy, reinforced aluminum and hard rubber construction for added durability and protection during transport. The Broncolor Verso A2 joins the current Broncolor Para FB Umbrellas and Ringflashes as the ultimate lighting solution for today's fashion photographers.

"The Broncolor Verso A2 Power Pack is one of the strongest and most precise lighting systems available today," stated Cathy Strobel, President, Sinar Bron Imaging. "The Power Pack joins other Broncolor lighting products in delivering the latest-generation technology, quality and reliability that have been the company's hallmark for 50 years."

Providing a total flash output of 1200J, more than enough power for nearly any lighting need, the new Broncolor Power Pack offers a level of lighting precision simply not available in other flash systems. Thanks to the circuitry which enables flash energy to be distributed between two channels and a maximum of three lamp connections, the Broncolor Verso A2 gives photographers a power control range of no less than seven f-stops throughout virtually the system's entire output range (1200J to 9J). In turn, this corresponds to a 1:128 contrast ratio providing photographers with enormous creative lighting options and control. In addition, the characteristics and contrast of the modeling light precisely match those of the final image when using the system's strobe.

The Broncolor Verso A2 is also a standout when it comes to simple operation. Every function can be controlled directly, without complex submenus, using the dust and scratch-resistant front panel and its illuminated silicone buttons.

Flash recycling is extremely fast, whether in the studio or on location using the portable Power Dock. When operating the Broncolor Verso A2 on mains (electric) power, it charges to full capacity in less than one second. When using the system's portable Power Dock, charging time is a mere 1.5 seconds when used at its maximum output.

The Power Dock, consisting of a high-performance battery package with integrated charging unit, as well as an independent processor for battery management and monitoring of the modeling light, is attached to the bottom of the power pack. With normal charging and at full flash output, the Broncolor Power Dock provides power for approximately 450 flashes, and more than 50,000 flashes when set on minimum power. Another advantage the Broncolor Verso A2 offers photographers, especially on location, is its ability to operate on any mains voltage, from 100-230 V, and automatically adjust to the specified voltage without the need for special adapters. For Power Dock operation, full compatibility with the Pulso G, Unilite, Picolite and Litestick is guaranteed. The Broncolor Verso A2 is also available in an RFS (Radio Frequency System) version.

With the Broncolor Verso A2, every flash has absolutely identical brightness, a critical advantage during the rapid flash sequences of a fashion shoot. Short flash durations are another powerful benefit. Even at full power (1200J) the flash discharge lasts no longer than 1/500 second at t.0.1, 1/1500s when measured at t.0.5. When set to 300J the flash duration drops to 1/1200s when measured at t.0.1 and 1/3500s at t 0.5, the fastest flash duration of any portable pack on the market. The color temperature remains constant, varying by only plus or minus 100 degrees Kelvin over a range of four full f-stops. When used in combination with highly efficient Broncolor light-shapers, even fast-moving subjects can be captured without the slightest motion blur.

If multiple flashes are needed to create a stroboscopic effect or build exposure, the sequence can be pre-programmed in the power pack. Effective fan cooling prevents the unit from overheating even during a long series of high intensity flash charges.

The new Broncolor Verso A2 Power Pack will be available in June and has a catalog price of $5,175 for the pack, with the power dock priced at $1,835.
