General Imaging has today unveiled eight new digital camera models, grouped into four different series aimed at different segments of the market.
The General Electric-branded A-series launches with two digital camera models - the GE A730 and A830 - which are closely related entry-level cameras. The General Electric A730 is the lower-cost of the two models, and features seven megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5" LCD display with 153,600 pixels, and ISO sensitivity to a maximum of 3200. Other features of the GE A730 include USB and NTSC / PAL video connectivity, 26MB of built-in memory plus an SD / MMC card slot, and power from two AA batteries (alkalines included in the product bundle). The GE A830 boosts sensor resolution to eight megapixels, but looks to be identical to its sibling in other respects. Pricing and availability have not been announced at this time, but prices are expected to start at around $149 for the most basic model. The press release for the General Electric A-series digital cameras can be found in another news item.
