Our good friend Rob Galbraith, professional photojournalist and proprietor of the Digital Photography Insights website, has posted his first-look review of Canon's EOS-1D Mark III digital SLR.

For those not already familiar with last February's announcement, the Canon 1D Mark III is an impressive camera indeed, offering an APS-H sized 10.1 megapixel image sensor, 10 frames-per-second burst shooting to 30 RAW or 110 JPEG frames, and ISO sensitivity from 100 to 6400. Although it is likely to prove of interest to a wide range of professional photographers, the Mark III has clearly been crafted with photojournalists and sports photographers in mind - and with his background, Rob's able to offer unique insight into how the camera responds to real-world challenges.

Of particular interest, Rob's first-look includes in-depth coverage of the new WFT-E2 / E2A wireless file transmitter - something we've not yet had the opportunity to review ourselves. Numerous screen captures and even some high-res videos abound throughout the first-look review, as well as around 30 gorgeous full-res sample photos shot under a wide variety of settings and conditions, beautifully demonstrating just what a pro can expect to achieve with this camera.
