Regular readers and pro photographers will doubtless be familiar with Canon's spectacular EOS-1D Mark III digital SLR.
First announced last February, the Canon 1D Mark III has an APS-H sized 10.1 megapixel image sensor, 10 frames-per-second burst shooting to 30 RAW or 110 JPEG (Large, compression level 8) frames, ISO sensitivity from 100 to 3200, and the ability to extend this to ISO 6400. We posted an extensive preview of the camera alongside the launch, and have updated it numerous times since then with further information.
Today we hear from Canon USA's Director of Media & Customer Relationship, Chuck Westfall, that the camera is now shipping to authorized dealers. We'd expect that with a camera with the 1D Mark III's features, there's doubtless a fairly lengthy list of photographers waiting on pre-order. Those who got their pre-orders in early should soon begin receiving their cameras, but it is likely to take a while for supply to completely catch up with demand.
